Certifications worth pursuing early in your career

Not every certification is worth the time and cost. Here's how to think about which ones are genuinely worth pursuing in your first few years.

Match the certification to a direction, not a trend

A credential is most valuable when it supports a direction you're already leaning toward — clinical specialisation, regulatory affairs, or industry — rather than one that simply looks impressive.

Prioritise recognised, portable credentials

Favour certifications recognised across employers and, ideally, across borders. A niche in-house certificate from a single employer won't travel with you.

Weigh the time cost honestly

A certification that takes a year of evenings and weekends needs to justify that investment. Sometimes on-the-job experience gets you further, faster.
